Prohibited items

A list of items you can’t ship using Packsmith.

Packsmith isn’t set up to ship what is classified by some carriers as dangerous goods. This includes things like hazardous materials or anything else that could create risk for carriers or in transit. The first time you use the app, you'll be prompted to confirm that you won't ship any prohibited items. 

If you try to ship something prohibited, you’ll be on the hook for any consequences. This means:

  • You’re responsible for any loss, damage, or delays that result.
  • You may be held liable for any claims, fines, or injuries caused by the shipment.
  • Packsmith may disable your account if prohibited items are found.

The following items are not allowed: 

Batteries (especially lithium-ion and lithium-metal)

  • Found in phones, laptops, power banks, e-bikes, drones, watches, toys
  • Hazard: Fire risk due to overheating, short-circuiting, or physical damage
  • Common UN codes: UN3480, UN3481, UN3090, UN3091

Cosmetics and Personal Care Products

  • Includes nail polish, perfumes, aerosol sprays, hair dyes, deodorants
  • Hazard: Flammable liquids, compressed gases
  • Common UN codes: UN1266 (perfume), UN1950 (aerosols)

Cleaning Supplies

  • Includes bleach, disinfectants, drain cleaners, ammonia-based sprays
  • Hazard: Corrosive substances, oxidizers, flammable liquids
  • Common UN codes: UN1760, UN1791, UN3266

Inks, Paints, and Adhesives

  • Found in art supplies, printer cartridges, household repair kits
  • Hazard: Flammable or combustible liquids, potential for harmful fumes
  • Common UN codes: UN1210 (printer ink), UN1263 (paint), UN1133 (adhesives)

Automotive Parts and Accessories

  • Includes airbags, fuel additives, motor oils, brake fluids, car batteries
  • Hazard: Explosives (airbags), flammable/combustible liquids, corrosives
  • Common UN codes: UN3268 (airbags), UN1203 (fuel), UN2794 (lead-acid batteries)

Pesticides and Garden Chemicals

  • Includes weed killers, insecticides, fertilizers
  • Hazard: Toxic substances, environmental hazards, oxidizers
  • Common UN codes: UN3016, UN2588, UN2757

Sporting and Outdoor Gear

  • Includes CO₂ cartridges (bike tires, airsoft), bear spray, camping fuel
  • Hazard: Compressed gases, flammable gases/liquids
  • Common UN codes: UN1013 (CO₂), UN1075 (propane), UN1950 (bear spray)

DIY and Hobby Materials

  • Includes epoxy resins, solvents, model glues
  • Hazard: Flammable liquids, skin/eye irritants, sometimes corrosive
  • Common UN codes: UN1866 (resins), UN1133 (adhesives)

Lighters and Matches

  • Hazard: Flammable gases or solids
  • Common UN codes: UN1057 (lighters), UN1331 (matches)
